Predictions of AMR refrigeration cycles on GD-SI-SE alloys.

Author(s) : BASSO V., SASSO C. P., BERTOTTI G., et al.

Summary

The AMR refrigeration cycle is predicted for single crystals of the Gd(5)Si(2)Ge(2) compound with the maximum magnetic field of 2T and at a working temperature around 270K. The predictions are based on the hysteresis modeling of the magnetic-field-driven phase transformation. The results obtained by the model demonstrate that the presence of hysteresis changes the shape of the transformations, but it has no significant effect on the efficiency of the cycles.
