Pressure drop and flow pattern of ice slurries.

Author(s) : DOETSCH C.

Summary

Extensive knowledge about the rheological qualities of ice slurries is the prerequisite for the design and optimization of ice slurry plants. Flow models which allow the calculation of pressure drops and the description of flow patterns have to be included into the investigation and optimization. Thus measurements of the water ice suspensions will be required over a great area of different ice contents, pipe diameters and flow velocities with a suitable flow rheometer. Based on results from experiments, models are developed. With these additive specific models the calculation of pressure drops can be carried out.
