Prototype Spacecraft Cryocooler progress.
Author(s) : PRICE K. D., BARR M. C., KRAMER G.
Summary
The Protoflight Spacecraft Cryocooler is a space qualified, low vibration, single-stage Stirling refrigerator that provides over 3 watts refrigeration at 60 K and over 1.25 watt at 35 K. The cooler design is derived from the Phillips Lab/Hughes 65 K Standard Spacecraft Cryocooler, with significant improvements in the areas of residual vibration, weight, efficiency, and integrability. One unit has been built and tested.
