Summary
A very large heat lift pulse tube cooler has been developed in partnership between AL/DTA and CEA/SBT. This pulse tube cold head prototype is based on an in-line configuration to ease the prototyping. It makes use of an inertance tube and a buffer volume as a phase shifter. The pulse tube cold head is driven by an 8 kW flexure bearing linear compressor. The performance is presented and discussed for various configurations and input powers.
