Pulse tube cooler development at CEA-SBT.

Summary

The pulse tube refrigerator with no moving part at low temperature, is very promising in terms of reliability. Recent results have demonstrated that its thermodynamical efficiency is close to that of traditional closed cycles cryocoolers (Gifford McMahon and Stirling). CEA-SBT has undertaken and is pursing an extensive program of developments on this promising new technology. This work is devoted to optimize prototypes in a large range of temperature (3 to 300 K) and cooling power (10 megawatts to 100 watts).
