Summary

The authors present two two-stage pulse-tube coolers developed since 1995 for liquid-helium working temperatures. In both coolers the pressure oscillation is produced through a commercial helium compressor combined with a rotary valve. Temperatures as low as 2.07 K were reached, and at 4.2 K refrigerating capacity of 25 milliwatts was produced. No precooling is necessary with these new two-stage systems.
