Summary

The author comments the Portuguese quality regulations on air conditioning systems in buildings and explains some points of this document, taking the example of an existing cinema in Coimbra. He describes the building and defines the external and internal parameters and calculates the refrigerating and heating capacities of the system, in accordance with the regulations. In the example, the results of the checking method given in the regulations tallies with those of the sizing method used by the author. However, he thinks that such a fact should not be generalized; the checking method should not be considered as a sizing method. J.G.
