Reduced sensitivity of niobium-tin epoxy-impregnated cable to transverse stress.

Type of article: Article
Summary
The critical current behaviour of an epoxy-impregnated niobium-tin cable exposed to transverse compressive stress up to 150 megapascals was investigated. The field-dependent degradation of the critical current is completely reversible. The magnitude of degradation in the tested cable is much less than that in single wires subjected to the same compressive loads.
