Summary

THE MAIN ADVANTAGES OF HERMETIC PUMPS ARE: COMPACTNESS, EASE OF INSTALLATION AND ABOVE ALL HIGH RELIABILITY. TREATS THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF MODERN PUMP INSTALLATIONS. STATES THAT PUMP SELECTION DEPENDS TO A LARGE DEGREE ON THE SPECIFIC DATA OF THE PUMP AND THE PLANT. THE MINIMUM SUCTION HEAD CAN ONLY BE DETERMINED IF UNSTEADY CONDITIONS IN THE PLANT AND THERMODYNAMIC EFFECTS ON THE SUCTION SIDE OF THE PUMP ARE CONSIDERED. NOTES HOW THE INFLUENCE OF THESE EFFECTS IS SHOWN BY THE < HEAT BALANCE > CALCULATION. PROVIDES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THESE PUMPS.
