Summary
Profile of Gérard Claudet (France) who has received the 1997 CEA scientific prize for his work in cryogenics. He is, among other things, the father of the technique known as the "Claudet bath" which makes it possible to use superfluid helium under pressure. His career has been at CEA/Grenoble, where he is currently at work on the laboratory's big project, the cooling of the magnets of CERN's LHC (Large Hadron Collider).
