Summary
Today, refrigeration is taken for granted. It's simply part and parcel of everyday modern living. What started as the humble domestic refrigerator, now impacts on every aspect of our lives. Yet only 100 years ago, natural ice cut from ponds and rivers and stored in an icebox, provided the only means of keeping foods and liquids cool. This article gives a history of domestic refrigeration.
