Summary

The setting conditions of air conditioners, which can be set by the users, are air supply angle, airflow, setting temperature and on/off. As there are no specific indicators for most of these conditions, it is usually set according to the users' choices. In this paper, the users' selection behaviour is reviewed. It's influence on the operating conditions of the air conditioners, indoor environment and energy consumption are investigated through simulation. As a result, it is shown that these selections besides do not always create a comfortable indoor environment, also result in energy wastage. Finally, the keys to the optimum operating conditions are summarized.
