Summary

Low-temperature storage of grain is a scientific method, which has a wide application prospect and practical value. A solar-powered adsorption refrigeration system used for low-temperature storage of grain was designed and built for the purpose of reducing energy consumption. It consists of a solar water heating unit, and adsorption chiller, a cooling tower, and a fan coil unit. Experimental operations on the system were conducted in a national grain depot. Test results show that the solar cooling and electric COP of the system are about 0.1-0.13 and 2.0-2.77, respectively. Compared with mechanical compression grain chiller, the solar-powered adsorption refrigeration system has great energy-saving potential.
