Results of tests on aluminium profiled loop heat pipes.

Summary

The authors discuss the problem of producing relatively inexpensive loop heat pipes for cooling equipment used for radio electronic and infrared equipment. Particularly challenging aspects include acceleration (over 1 g), changes in orientation and gravitational forces. An inexpensive prototype is described: the use of AD-31 aluminium alloy is proposed. Test results obtained using loop heat pipes made from AD-31 alloy and 10H12XlT steel are given.
