Summary
Current methods are described, with their advantages and drawbacks. The relative merits of trained and untrained test groups are discussed, and the latter was found to be more effective. Another method is described in which impurities were diluted until only 50% of the subjects could detect them. This seemed to be the best method. Electronic "noses" proved to be promising for the future.
