Service tech develops predictive maintenance program.

Type of article: Article
Summary
The author describes a predictive maintenance program developed by a US refrigeration service technician. Most conventional commercial refrigeration or air-conditioning plants may be covered by installing temperature measuring probes at defined points in the plant. These, together with motor amperage readings are permanently wired to a connecting box for a multimeter connection by the technician. The readings can be compared to previous readings and also fed into a software program which analyses any changes and produces possible fault projections. This enables preventative maintenance to be achieved. D.W.H.
