Summary

Recently, more and more absorption heat pumps have been applied in district heating systems, especially with industrial waste heat as the driven source. Flashing is an alternative for generator in this kind of heat pumps. Thus, the performance of LiBr solution flashing process in absorption heat pumps was discussed in this paper. The heat and mass transfer model was established in the paper for solution flashing process. The influences of various factors including inlet LiBr temperature, concentration and condensation pressure on the temperature and concentration distribution along the spraying columns of solution were studied.
Also the flashing experiments on the absorption heat and mass transfer test bench has been constructed. Experimental results show the flashing amount in different parts. Depending on the experimental results as well as the mathematical model, the average mass transfer coefficient for 18 different experimental conditions is obtained. The results can be used to help design the flashing generation process in absorption heat pumps.
