Summary

REVIEWED ARE SOME CHOSEN APPLICATIONS OF SUPERCONDUCTING QUANTUM INTERFEROMETERS. THE PROBLEM OF QUANTUM NOISE OF A JOSEPHSON JUNCTION IS DISCUSSED AND THE RELEVANT PARAMETERS ESTIMATED ; THE WAYS TO IMPROVE SQUID SENSITIVITY ARE OUTLINED. SQUID APPLICATIONS ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL FOR CHECKING SOME BASIC PHYSICAL LAWS FOR THE ELEMENTARY PARTICLE PHYSICS, FOR GEOPHYSICS AND FOR CRYOGENICS (NUCLEAR GYROSCOPE, SQUID AND NMR, THERMOMETRY AT SUPERLOW TEMPERATURES). DISCUSSED ARE EXPERIMENTS BOTH ALREADY REALIZED AND IN PROJECT AS WELL AS SOME FURTHER POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF SQUID MAGNETOMETERS ARE SPECIFIED.
