Spot cooling: human response and design recommendations.

Author(s) : MELIKOV A.

Summary

When designing a spot cooling system several factors should be considered, such as the jet velocity and temperature, the jet direction, the size and the distance of the target area from the outlet (the target area is defined as the cross section of the jet where it first touches the subject), the velocity and the temperature distribution at the target area, the physiological and the subjective responses of the subjects and their individual differences, the regulation of the spot cooling system, etc. In this paper, results from human studies on spot cooling systems are discussed and analyzed from the viewpoint of the above mentioned restrictions. Recommendations for design of spot cooling systems are suggested.
