Type of article: Article
Summary
A data base is being made for superconducting magnets which have been built over the last 10 years. In the paper, the stability characteristics and the calculated stability factor and minimum propagating zone length of the magnets are investigated to deduce an empirical stability criterion. The hot spot temperature of the conductor after quench is calculated for various magnets, assuming the conductor is adiabatic.
