Summary

Romania as a EU Member State has the obligation to align its legislation with all European directives and regulations concerning all subject fields. One of Romania's current priorities is the implementation of the 2010/31/EC Directive - regarding Energy Performance of Buildings. The Directive implies that each EU Member State has to define the nZEB and optimal cost concepts. An integrated approach that addresses all the issues regarding Energy Efficiency Directives is also a matter of equal importance. At the time of writing of this paper, in the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, the Energy Efficiency Directive is being debated, this directive is intended to be a revision of the 2004/8/EC Directive and the 2006/32/EC Directive. This paper aims to highlight the steps followed by Romania in implementing these directives, the aim being to have a final 20/ 20/ 20 policy in all EU Member States.
