Type of article: Article

Summary

An overview of the influence of the air conditioning installation on comfort and air quality in hospitals; all-air systems and air-and-water systems with ceiling radiant panels are considered the best in this respect. The importance of air quality is stressed; design criteria for the filters arrangement and the air change rate are given. Results, in terms of temperature and air velocity distribution inside a hospital room are shown in graphs; these data are obtained by means of a computer code for thermal analysis and refer to two different building structures and two air-conditioning systems (all-air and air-and-water).
