Summary

THE PAPER LOOKS AT OPERATING AND CONTROL PROCEDURES THAT SHIFT THE HEAT STORAGE IN THE BUILDING ELEMENTS TO TIMES OF DAY WHEN THE BUILDING'S AIR-CONDITIONING LOAD PEAKS AND PROCEDURES THAT INCREASE THE HEAT STORED TO REDUCE THE PEAK LOAD. THE REDUCTION OF PEAK LOAD WILL DECREASE SYSTEM SIZE AND PEAK ELECTRICAL LOAD. THEORETICAL RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH TEST RESULTS, AND GOOD AGREEMENT IS SHOWN. THE RESULTS AND DISCUSSION ARE BASED ON AN INTERIOR ROOM WITH NO OCCUPANTS. THE ONLY LOAD IS LIGHTING.
