Summary
The principles which should minimize hazards are presented in this article. Attention is paid to preliminary work done before fruit harvesting, optimum harvest time and picking techniques. The value of suitable packages used and the necessity of cooling strawberries destined for the fresh market are also stressed. Prerequisites for increased competitiveness in the case of strawberries produced in Poland for the European Union market are improvement in their quality and fair trade.
