Summary

IN ORDER TO ANALYZE THE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER BETWEEN THE CLOTHED HUMAN BODY AND ENVIRONMENT, VARIOUS KINDS OF FABRICS WERE MEASURED WITH A MODIFIED TCB-TX TYPEHOT-PLATE APPARATUS. THE INSULATION VALUE, EVAPORATIVE RESISTANCE AND PERMEABILITY INDEX OF OUTFITS MADE OF THE FABRICS WERE THEN ANALYZED AND COMPARED WITH THE RESULTS OF A TWO-DIMENSIONAL MATHEMATICAL MODEL. IT WAS FOUND THAT, FOR GENERAL INDOOR CLOTHING, THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA AND THE CALCULATION DATA WERE SMALL.
