THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE HUMAN BODY THERMOCONTROL MECHANISMS, EXPLAINING ALL FACTORS ACTING ON HEAT EXCHANGES AND DEFINING THE HEAT BALANCE OF MAN (METABOLISM, EXTERNAL WORK, THERMOLYSIS BY EVAPORATION AND RESPIRATION, CONDUCTION THROUGH CLOTHES, EXCHANGES BY RADIATION AND CONVECTION). HE GIVES THE MATHEMATICAL EXPRESSION FOR THESE MAGNITUDES AND DEFINES THE < COMFORT > EQUATION, EXPRESSING OVERALL HEAT BALANCE.
