Summary

THE LATENT HEAT STORAGE MATERIAL USED IN THESE EXPERIMENTS WAS CALCIUM CHLORIDE HEXAHYDRATE. IN THE CASE OF SOLIDIFICATION, THE THERMAL RESISTANCE AGREES WITH THAT OF A CYLINDRICAL HEAT STORAGE CONTAINER IN THE REGION WHERE THE ACCUMULATIVE HEAT DISCHARGE RATIO IS LESS THAN ABOUT 0.65. SHOULD THIS RATIO BE HIGHER, THE THERMAL RESISTANCE BECOMES NOTICEABLY HIGHER. WITH THE MELTING PROCESS THE THERMAL RESISTANCE IS LESS THAN THAT OF THE HEAT STORAGE CONTAINER BY ABOUT 40% WHERE THE CUMULATIVE HEAT DISCHARGE RATIO IS LESS THAN ABOUT 0.6. SHOULD THIS RATIO BE HIGHER, THE THERMAL RESISTANCE BECOMES NOTICEABLY HIGHER.
