Study on sonocrystallisation of TBAB aqueous solution.

Author(s) : SONG W., XIAO R., HUANG C., et al.

Summary

Continuously making clathrate hydrate slurry is the key for energy storage and latent-heat transportation system using TBAB CHS as the medium. Investigation on effects of sonocrystallisation for TBAB aqueous solution is a full-fresh subject. In this paper, one ultrasonic with 25 kHz frequency was selected from several industrial choices firstly. Then, 25 wt% TBAB solutions with different degree of supercooling and ultrasonic with different power output levels were adopted. It was proved that ultrasonic vibration was an effective method to realize supercooling releasing with high efficiency (with the evidence of dimensionless parameter k). One optimum power output level was found. Finally, appearance morphology of CHS generated from sonocrystallisation was compared with that from uncontrolled nucleation.
