Summary

Cryosurgery operation with multi-probes has the advantage of treating large tissues, but the shape of the frozen region and temperature distribution around the probes are more complex. Therefore, it is rather difficult to guide the operation only with ultrasound images because the sonographer is blind to the three-dimensional geometry and the temperature distribution of the iceball. So it is very important to develop a theoretical model and mathematical scheme to analyse the phase-change process around multiple probes. A theoretical simulation of the freeze process around single, double and three probes is presented. The calculated results exhibit the reasonable temperature distribution and temperature gradient characteristics around multi-probes.
