Summary

Superconducting YBCO films have been prepared by on-axis direct current magnetron sputtering from single sintered targets with various compositions, and relationships of transition temperature to film composition and c-axis lattice parameter have been examined. Films with zero-resistance transition temperature exceeding 85 K are more easily obtained using barium-poorer targets than stoichiometry under the conditions of lower oxygen pressures, 3-10 millitorr. Relations with copper-barium and barium-yttrium ratios are discussed.
