THE PAPER ANALYZES THE MAIN PROBLEMS TO BE SOLVED BY THE DESIGNERS OF TECHNICAL INSTALLATIONS (HVAC SYSTEM, LIGHTING, PLUMBING, ETC) OF LARGE OPEN-SPACE BUILDINGS, SUCH AS AIRPORTS, SHOPPING CENTRES, ETC. THE AUTHOR STRESSES THE IMPORTANCE OF THE INITIAL CHOICES AMONG DIFFERENT POSSIBLE SOLUT BUILDING STRUCTURES AND TECHNICAL INSTALLATIONS NEED, IN PARTICULAR, TO BE DESIGNED JOINTLY. A GLOBAL VIEW OF ENERGY PROBLEMS IS VERY IMPORTANT: IN THIS FIELD THE COGENERATIVE SYSTEMS (COMBINED PRODUCTION OF HEAT AND ELECTRICITY CAN CONTRIBUTE TO LARGE ENERGY SAVINGS.
