The actual performance of an absorption refrigeration plant during varying working conditions.

Summary

A 1-kilowatt absorption refrigeration plant was designed and built according to simulated results obtained from a computer model. During performance tests, extensive data were collected in terms of temperatures, pressures and mass flow rates of the refrigerant. It was found that the performance of the absorption plant followed closely the simulated performance trend, while varying the temperature of the generator. A large deviation of the actual performance from the trend was noted, when the plant was operated at an elevated condensate temperature. Analysis showed that the deviation was due to the condenser and heat exchanger operating beyond their design characteristics.
