Marché des pommes : la France dans son environnement européen.

Author(s) : DECOENE C.

Type of article: Article

Summary

With output now equal to that of Italy and an export level almost twice as high, France has become the leading producer of apples in the European Union. Apples are the number one fruit consumed in Britain, where it is associated with a "young" consumer profile. The consumer profile is the most "traditional" in Spain, where apples occupy a modest position among fruit. It is the most popular in Italy, where households purchase very large quantities. The similarity in price trends shows that the European market is becoming progressively more uniform.
