Summary

World raspberry production has been rising since the early 1980s, particularly in East European countries, North America and Latin America. The European Union imports raspberries in order to overcome shortages. Imports/exports total 130,000 tonnes, 3/4 of which are quick-frozen. French imports practically doubled between 1985 and 1990, reaching a level of 20,000 tonnes (90% of this total being quick-frozen foods). France exports about 2000 tonnes (80% of which are quick-frozen foods) and exports have risen to only a small extent since 1990.
