Type of article: Article

Summary

SOME OF THE HEAT RESISTANCES OF A CONVENTIONAL FLAT-PLATE SOLAR COLLECTOR ARE SMALLER THAN OTHERS. USING THIS PROPERTY, ANALYTIC APPROXIMATIONS OF THE TEMPERATURES WITHIN THE COLLECTOR ARE DERIVED. THEY ARE EXPRESSED AS FUNCTIONS OF THE TIME-VARYING BEHAVIOUR OF THE INSOLATION, THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AND THE FLUID OUTLET AND INLET TEMPERATURE. IN PARTICULAR, THE FAST-VARYINGTEMPERATURE OF THE FLUID NEAR THE COLLECTOR INLET HAS BEEN SHOWN. SOME APPLICATIONS ARE MENTIONED.
