Summary

Screw and reciprocating compressors play an important part in refrigeration today. The two types can be complementary rather than competitive, and the choice will depend upon technical aspects, economic in use and the kind of application. The article describes those parameters which should be taken into account and shows the bias of choice towards the kind of application.
