Summary
A cooling ceiling associated with a ventilation system is considered a good choice in air conditioning, from the points of view of thermal comfort and energy efficiency. The main advantages lie in low air velocity, low noise level and low temperature gradient inside the conditioned space, together with energy savings resulting from the reduction in fan power and the increase in water temperature. This cooling system is composed of tubes with extended surface, which are placed over a false ceiling with an open area of at least 20%, so that convection can contribute significantly to the overall heat exchange. Some examples of the application of this technique in air-conditioning are reported. E.F.
