Summary
THE PAPER DESCRIBES A CRYOGENIC SYSTEM FOR A SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETICALLYLEVITATED VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CAN BE MAGNETICALLY LEVITATED ABOUT 10 CM FROM THE GROUND, RUNNING AT 500 KM/H. THE SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET IS COOLED BY LIQUID HELIUM WHICH IS RELIQUEFIED BY AN ONBOARD REFRIGERATOR TO PROVIDE A CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM. THE DETAILS OF THE ONBOARD REFRIGERATOR AND THE SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET ARE DESCRIBED AND FUTURE CRYOGENIC SYSTEMS ARE DISCUSSED.
