Summary

The critical concentrations of praseodymium, at which the superconductivity is completely quenched, are 0.15-0.2, 0.5-0.6 and 0.6-0.65 for lanthanum-praseodymium-BCO(y), yttrium-praseodymium-BCO(y), and ytterbium-praseodymium-BCO(y), respectively. The measurements of the lattice constants of these three solid solutions are compared to the Vegard's line. A possible mechanism responsible for praseodymium suppression of superconductivity has been put forward. It is thought that the substitution of praseodymium for rare earth induces strong interactions in the copper-oxygen sheets, making the superconductivity of the studied systems disappear. On the condition of praseodymium concentration being constant, the larger the ionic radii of rare earths, the larger the deviations from the Vegard's line of the system.
