Summary
The modified atmosphere utilized was produced by a generator and was composed of 0.7-0.8% O2, 14-15% CO2, and about 84% N2. Three temperatures were tested: 17, 20 and 23 °C, and experiments were carried out in glass minisilos supplied with a device to measure O2 percentage. Ninety Tribolium confusum and ninety Sitophilus granarius adults were used for each test. Mortality was investigated at 24, 48, 72, 96, 120, 144 and 168 hours after the modified atmosphere was introduced in each minisilo.
