THE ENGINEER'S LIABILITY IN AVOIDING AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM OVERDESIGN.

Author(s) : KOHLOSS F. H.

Summary

LESS STRINGENT DESIGN CONDITIONS, ACCEPTANCE OF TEMPERATURE, LOAD, AND HUMIDITY RAMPS, AND COMPROMISES IN ZONING HELP AVOID OVERSIZING. EXPECTED LOAD DIVERSITY, A MAJOR FACTOR IN ESTABLISHING ECONOMICAL COMPROMISES IN DESIGN, IS LARGELY A MATTER OF THE ENGINEER'S JUDGMENT. TO MINIMIZE EXPOSURE TO LEGAL HARASSMENT, THE CONTRACT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES SHOULD HAVE PROVISIONS CONFIRMING THE NEED TO COMPROMISE AND THE CLIENT'S AGREEMENT. OTHER PERSONS MAY STILL ASSERT IN LEGAL PROCEEDINGS THAT THE COMPROMISES AFFECTED THEM ADVERSELY.
