Summary
Air evaporator and condensor performance standards are becoming common. Temperature difference between air and fluid is still defined according to two different conceptions, which lead to different values of apparent duty for a same device. Actual performances are hardly measurable on location and in the conditions expected. The various selection criteria of evaporators, besides the values listed in the catalogue, are analyzed successively: exchanger surface area, ratio of duty/air flow rate, mixing ratio. Finally, advice is given in order to make the right choice according to the many design, construction and application parameters. J.L.
