Summary
A two-stage pulse tube refrigerator in combination with a rotary valve and a valved compressor has been constructed. A minimum temperature of 11.5 K and a cooling capacity of 1.3 watt at 20 K were obtained at a frequency of 4.2 hertz and a system pressure of 1.5 megapascal. The 2nd-stage regenerator was only filled with lead shot.
