THE IMPACT OF LIGHTING FIXTURES ON HEATING AND COOLING LOADS. APPLICATION TO DESIGN.

Author(s) : BALL H. D.

Summary

A MATHEMATICAL MODEL DESCRIBING THE SPATIAL AND TIME DISTRIBUTION OF ENERGY DUE TO LIGHTING HAS BEEN USED TO PREDICT ROOM COOLING LOADS AND TOTAL COOLING LOADS FOR A VARIETY OF BUILDING-LIGHTING ARRANGEMENTS, AIRFLOW PATHS AND RATES, AND LIGHTING DURATION. COEFFICIENTS FOR THE TRANSFER FUNCTION HAVE BEEN DERIVED. THE PAPER GIVES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DESIGN COOLING LOAD CALCULATIONS AND EXAMPLES ILLUSTRATING THE USE OF THE FUNCTION COEFFICIENTS IN DETERMINING ROOM AND TOTAL COOLING LOADS.
