The influence of double façades on building heat losses and cooling loads.

Author(s) : TODOROVIC B., MARIC B.

Summary

A double façade reduces both cooling and heating loads in a building. The thermal performances of two examples of double-façade are compared with that provided by a conventional single façade. In the first case the outer element is clear glass, and in the second the absorbing glass. The distributions of air temperature in the space between the two elements in each case are calculated for incident cooling and heating loads representative of the four seasons of a year.
