The Marangoni convection: a two-point theory of mass and heat transfer and Laplace equation new wording approach.

Summary

The Marangoni convection basic mechanism is not well understood. This work presents results elucidating this effect, based on a new wording of the Laplace equation. Some typical case studies, where Marangoni convection occurs, are examined in the light of this new theory. The TPT equation and the new Laplace equation are used to model a pseudo-Marangoni cell with an ammonia-water absorption process. Results are graphically presented and emphasize strong induced fluid convection. They also suggest that Marangoni convection could be obtained in binary absorption-generation processes too, without surfactant use, if adequate cells were constructed.
