The molecular exchange flow of He-Ar mixed gas in microflow.

Number: 1065

Summary

Based on the flow characteristics of binary gas mixtures in microchannel, it is possible to create a particular flow, named the molecular exchange flow. A mathematic model is established to describe the flow of binary gas mixture in microchannel and the coefficient of molecular exchange flow, k, is defined. Taking He-Ar mixed gas as example, the phenomenon of molecular exchange flow is investigated, and then the generation conditions and the range of k for the occurrence of ideal/general molecular exchange flow are obtained. Moreover, the influences of temperature ratio and component concentration on the molecular exchange flow are discussed. The molecular exchange flow strengthens with the increase of net molar flux of component He when the temperature ratio raises. With the increase of the molar concentration of component He, both of the lower and upper limits of k will decrease, and the difference of average molar mass flux will increase.
