Summary
Parts of the Act dealing with the "Body" to administer the Act came into force on February 15, 1992, and the remainder of the Act on July 1, 1992, although there was a phase-in period of two years for those sections of the Act dealing with Existing Buildings. The stated aim of the Act is "To consolidate and reform the law relating to building and to provide for better regulation and control of buildings".
