THE POTENTIAL OF < SMART > CONTROLS TO IMPROVE THE COST EFFECTIVENESS OF ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN HEAT PUMPS OPERATING WITHIN A VARIABLE RATE TARIFF STRUCTURE.

Author(s) : EWERS R. A., LOVEDAY D. L.

Summary

AN ALTERNATIVE DOMESTIC TARIFF IS PROPOSED, BASED ON THOSE TARIFFS FOUND IN INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL SECTORS. THIS IS A VARIABLE RATED TARIFF THAT HAS FIXED CHARGES FOR PERIODS THROUGH THE DAY. THE ALL-ELECTRIC SYSTEM CAN BE MAINTAINED BY HEAT PUMPS AND A VARIABLE TARIFF CAN ENABLE THEM TO BECOME AN ALTERNATIVE HEATING METHOD. AN ANALYTICAL METHOD PROVIDES THE ASSESSMENT FOR THE MOST COMMON TYPES OF HOME. A CONTROL SYSTEM IS PROPOSED OF THE < SMART > TYPE WHICH IS SIMILAR TO CONVENTIONAL COMMERCIAL SYSTEMS.
