Summary

THE SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS HAS RECENTLY BEEN APPLIED TO VARIOUS COMPONENTS AND CYCLES BY A THEORETICAL APPROACH. HOWEVER, THE APPLICATION OF THIS LAW PRACTICALLY IS NOT COMMON BECAUSE THE RELEVANT CONCEPTS DO NOT SEEM TO BE VERY IMPORTANT YET. IN THE STUDY, THE SECOND LAW WILL BEAPPLIED TO ABSORPTION COOLING CYCLES BY DEFINING 2 NEW EFFECTIVENESSES OF THE SYSTEM FOR 2 WORKING FLUIDS AND THE CHOICE OF WORKING FLUIDS WILL BE BASED ON THIS LAW. THE SECOND LAW ANALYSIS ALSO OFFERS AN ALTERNATIVE ABSORBENT/REFRIGERANT COMBINATION (LITHIUM BROMIDE/WATER), WHICH DOES NOT DESTROY THE OZONE LAYER.
